From Byzantine Greek κερατάς (keratás), equivalent to κέρατο (kérato, horn) +‎ -άς (-ás). Compare similar horn-related terms in Italian (cornuto) and Spanish (cornudo).

  1. (colloquial, derogatory) cuckold, cuck (man married to an unfaithful wife)
