Etymology[edit]
네모 (nemo, “quadrangle”) + 꼴 (kkol, “shape”), a calque of Chinese 四角形 (sìjiǎoxíng).

- Phonetic hangul: [네(ː)모꼴]
- Though still prescribed in Standard Korean, most speakers in both Koreas no longer distinguish vowel length.
