Etymology[edit]

(seok-, to mix) + (-i-, passive suffix) + (-da, suffix conventionally given for citation forms).

First attested in the Childae manbeop (七大萬法 / 칠대만법), 1569, as Middle Korean 섯기다 (Yale: seski-ta).
