[edit]Inherited from Ottoman Turkish ایصی (ısı, ıssı), from Old Anatolian Turkish اصی (ıssı), from Proto-Turkic *ïsïg, *isig (“hot”).
Cognate with Old Turkic [script needed] (isig, “heat”), Turkmen yssy (“hot”), Tatar эссе (esse, “hot”), Bashkir эҫе (eśe, “hot”), Kyrgyz ысык (ısık, “hot”), Uzbek issiq (“warm, hot”), Tuvan изиг (izig, “heat; hot”), Yakut итии (itii, “heat; hot”), etc.
