Etymology[edit]

Borrowed from Proto-Anatolian *Lukkawanna (Lukka's land), influenced by the Greek personal name Λῠκᾱ́ων (Lukā́ōn). Lukka was a historical region of southwestern Anatolia, probably a native Anatolian name (compare Λυκία (Lukía)).
