Etymology[edit]
From Mediaeval Byzantine Greek ἀστέρας (astéras), from the ancient singular accusative τὸν ἀστέρα (tòn astéra) of Ancient Greek ἀστήρ (astḗr). The modern senses, semantic loan from English star.[1]
