Ancient Greek

Etymology

Probably from Proto-Indo-European *ste(n)gʰ- (to stick), cognate with Proto-Germanic *stinganą, Lithuanian stangus (fixed, stiff), Latvian stingt (to harden). However, the variant ἄσταχυς (ástakhus) could also suggest a Lua error in Module:parameters at line 291: Parameter 2 should be a valid language, etymology language or family code; the value "pregrc" is not valid. See WT:LOL, WT:LOL/E and WT:LOF. origin; compare στόνυξ (stónux, sharp point) and στόχος (stókhos, erection of stone).
