Etymology[edit]

Inherited from Byzantine Greek ψάρι (psári), from the Koine sense "fish" of the Ancient Greek ὀψάριον (opsárion), diminutive of ὄψον (ópson, delicacy).[1] Cognate with Mariupol Greek псар (psar).
