From Хаба́ров (Xabárov) +‎ -ск (-sk), from the surname of Yerofey Khabarov, in Russian Ерофе́й Па́влович Хаба́ров-Святи́тский (Jeroféj Pávlovič Xabárov-Svjatítskij), a Cossack explorer.
