From earlier гду́ля (gdúlja) and гду́ня (gdúnja), from Proto-Slavic *kъdunja, from Latin cydōnia, from Ancient Greek Κυδωνία (Kudōnía, quince-tree).

ду́ля (dúljaf inan (genitive ду́ли, nominative plural ду́ли, genitive plural дуль)

  1. (dialectal) small pear
  2. fig sign (a rude gesture in which the hand makes a fist and the thumb is stuck between the index and middle fingers); indicates "nothing for you", "nuts to you"

Not the same vulgar meaning that this gesture has in Western European countries such as Germany.
