[edit]From early мо́лвный (mólvnyj) with the change -олв- (-olv-) → -ов- (-ov-), inherited from Old East Slavic мъ́лвьнъ (mŭ́lvĭnŭ), from Proto-Slavic *mъ̀lvьnъ, from *mъ̀lva.[1] By surface analysis, мо́ва (móva) + -ный (-nyj).
