Bulgarian[edit]

Etymology[edit]

From плъж (plǎž, slug) (dialectal) +‎ -ек (-ek). Ungrammatical -у- is probably due to convergence with dialectal Bulgarian плю́гам (pljúgam, to taint, to blight) (of expressive origin), related to Proto-Slavic *pľugavъ (creepy, repulsive).
