  • Note the difference in short forms. Other than the masculine singular, short forms with one н are used without a dative object (when speaking of someone's general temperament), but forms with two н's are used with a dative object (when speaking of someone's attitude towards a specific person or thing). In the feminine singular, the two meanings not only differ from each other in short form, but from the past participle of преда́ть (predátʹ):
    1. она́ пре́данна "she is faithful/loyal (in general)"
    2. она́ пре́дана своему́ му́жу "she is faithful/loyal to her husband"
    3. она́ предана́ свои́м дру́гом "she is betrayed by her friend"
