Ultimately from Ancient Greek ψυχή (psukhḗ, soul) and -λογία (-logía). By surface analysis, психо- (psyxo-) +‎ -ло́гія (-lóhija). Compare Russian психоло́гия (psixológija), Belarusian псіхало́гія (psixalóhija), Polish psychologia.
