[edit]Inherited from Old East Slavic русалиꙗ (rusalija), Old Church Slavonic роусалиѩ (rusaliję) + -ка (-ka), from Byzantine Greek ῥουσάλια (rhousália), from Latin rōsālia (“festival of the roses”). Compare with Bulgarian руса́лия (rusálija).
