[edit]Inherited from Old Slovak úvaha (“consideration, thinking”). Most likely semantically influenced by Polish uwaga, perhaps via Carpathian Rusyn ува́га (uváha). By surface analysis, deverbal from уважиц (uvažic, “to acknowledge, recognize”).
