Etymology[edit]

From Proto-Indo-European *h₂(e)rH-mo- +‎ -ուկն ‎(-ukn). Perhaps contaminated with մուկն ‎(mukn, muscle). Cognate with Sanskrit ईर्म ‎(īrma), Avestan 𐬀𐬭𐬨𐬀 ‎(arma), Ossetian арм ‎(arm), Latin armus, Old Church Slavonic рамо ‎(ramo) and Proto-Germanic *armaz.
