From *գար ‎(*gar, pain), borrowed from the Parthian cognate of Sanskrit गद ‎(gada, disease), Avestan [script needed] ‎(gaδa-, pain), Middle Persian [script needed] ‎(gad, pain; damage).

  1. (intransitive) to be in pain; to hurt
