Alternative forms[edit]

  • կնունք (knunkʿ) (dialectal, senses “stamp; stamped image; baptism” only)
  • կնուք (knukʿ) (dialectal, sense “baptism” only)

Etymology[edit]

From Hurrian *kanikki, from Akkadian [script?] (kanīku, kanikku, sealed object: document, sack bulla, etc.). The dialectal forms կնունք (knunkʿ), կնուք (knukʿ) must be from Akkadian [script?] (kunukku, seal-cylinder).
