Cognates include Sanskrit अश्नोति (aśnoti), नशति (naśati, to attain), Latin nanciscor, Proto-Balto-Slavic *neśtei, Ancient Greek ἐν-εγκ-εῖν (en-enk-eîn, to carry), Proto-Germanic *ganōgaz.
