Etymology[edit]

From Middle Armenian պայտար (paytar), from Arabic بَيْطَار (bayṭār, farrier).[1][2] The spelling պայտառ (paytaṙ) arose by a false reanalysis as պայտ (payt) + առնեմ (aṙnem, to make).[3][4][1]
