Etymology[edit]

A Middle Iranian borrowing equivalent to Persian ابزار (abzâr). Also in Classical Syriac ܐܒܙܪܐ (ʾaḇzārā, appurtenance).

Noun[edit]

אַבְזָרָא or אֲבִזְרָא / אֲבִיזְרָא (ʾaḇzārā or ʾaḇizrām (plural אֲבִזְרֵי (ʾaḇizrē))

  1. instrument, appurtenance
  2. anything used for seasoning; spices, etc.

Descendants[edit]

  • Hebrew: אַבְזָר (ʾaḇzā́r), אֲבִיזָר (ʾaḇizā́r)
