Etymology

The definite form of إِسْلَام (ʔislām, submission (to the will of God)), verbal noun of أَسْلَمَ (ʔaslama), from the root س ل م (s l m).

      إِنَّ ٱلدِّينَ عِندَ ٱللهِ ٱلۡإِسۡلَــٰمُ ۗ وَمَا ٱخۡتَلَفَ ٱلَّذِينَ أُوتُواْ ٱلۡكِتَــٰبَ إِلَّا مِنۢ بَعۡدِ مَا جَآءَهُمُ ٱلۡعِلۡمُ بَغْيًۢا بَيۡنَهُمۡ ۗ وَمَن يَكۡفُرۡ بِـَٔايَـٰتِ ٱللهِ فَإِنَّ ٱللهَ سَرِيعُ ٱلۡحِسَابِ
      "Inna l-dīna ʼinda l-lahi i-is'lāmu ۗ wamā ikh'talafa alladhīna ūtū l-kitāba illā min baʼdi mā jāahumu l-ʼil'mu baghyan baynahum ۗ waman yakfur biāyāti l-lahi fa-inna l-laha sarīʼu l-ḥisābi"
      "Certainly, Allah’s only Way is Islam. [i.e., full submission to the Will of Allah.] Those who were given the Scripture did not dispute ˹among themselves˺ out of mutual envy until knowledge came to them. [No community split into believers and disbelievers until they received the knowledge given by their prophet.] Whoever denies Allah’s signs, then surely Allah is swift in reckoning."
