Borrowed from Persian انجمن (anjoman, “meeting, assembly”), from Middle Persian 𐭧𐭭𐭰𐭬𐭭 (hanjaman, “congregation, assembly, community”), itself from Avestan 𐬵𐬀𐬧𐬘𐬀𐬨𐬀𐬥𐬀 (haṇjamana, “assembly”).
