Etymology

From Middle Persian [Book Pahlavi needed] (DWBŠYA, ʾngpyn' /⁠angubēn⁠/, honey), from Proto-Iranian *Hangubáynah.

Cognate with Northern Kurdish hingiv, Zazaki engemin, Central Kurdish ھەنگِوین (hengiwîn) and Talysh انگوین (anqevin).

Probably not related انگ (ang, yellowjacket); instead related to انگم (angom, resin).
