Inherited from Proto-Turkic *īn (lair, burrow);[1] cognate with Old Turkic 𐰃𐰤 (in), Kazakh ін (ın), Southern Altai ийин (iyin), Turkmen hīn, Uzbek in and Yakut иин (iin).
