From Middle Persian 𐭲𐭠𐭰𐭩𐭪 ‎(Tāčīk, Tāzīg, non-Persian; Arab), from Arabic طَيِّء ‎(ṭayyiʾ, name of an Arab clan). Compare Classical Syriac ܛܝܝܐ ‎(Ṭayyāyāʾ, Arab).
