تالار
Appearance
Persian
[edit]Etymology
[edit]Possibly ultimately from Proto-Indo-European *trab-, *treb- (“dwelling, room”). Cognate with Manichaean Middle Persian tlwʾr (talawār, “hall, tabernacle”), and Mazanderani تلار (telâr, “barn”). Related to Persian طربال (tarbâl, “monastery”), Persian تلیبار (talibâr, “a hut used for breeding silkworms”) and perhaps (dialectal) Persian طنبی (tanabi, “hall”). Compare Old Armenian տաղաւար (taławar, “tent, pavillion”), a loan from Parthian.
