Etymology

From تِشْرِين (tišrīn), from Classical Syriac ܬܫܪܝܢ (tešrīn, autumn month), ultimately from Akkadian 𒌚𒇯 (tišritum), and cognate with Hebrew תִּשְׁרֵי (tišrei, Tishrei, the seventh month of the Hebrew lunisolar calendar) + الثَّانِي (aṯ-ṯānī, the second), as this month is considered the second month of autumn.
