From the root ص ن ب ر (ṣ-n-b-r) meaning “bitter cold”, “weather requiring hardiness to endure”, a variant of ص ب ر (ṣ-b-r)enduring”, “patient”, “persevering”; so named for the tree being a winter-enduring evergreen tree.
