Borrowed from Byzantine Greek μαγαζίον (magazíon), borrowed from Venetan magazén, borrowed from Arabic مَخَازِن (maḵāzin), from مَخْزَن (maḵzan), from خَزَنَ (ḵazana). Doublet of مخزن (mahzen, “warehouse”).
