Borrowed from Classical Persian کشمیر(kašmīr), potentially also a Learned borrowing from Sanskrit कश्मीर (kaśmīra), which is probably a contraction of कश्यपमीर (kaśyapamīra) or कश्यपमेरु (kaśyapameru). Compare Kashmiri کٔشیٖر(kạśīr).
