Inherited from Sanskrit अग्रेवण (agrevaṇa, forest border), from अग्र (agra, border, in front of) + वन (vana, forest). Compare Punjabi ਆਗਰਾ (āgarā) / آگرا (āgrā), Gujarati આગ્રા (āgrā), Marathi आग्रा (āgrā), Bengali আগ্রা (agra), Kannada ಆಗ್ರಾ (āgrā).
