Etymology[edit]
Inherited from Sauraseni Prakrit 𑀣𑁄𑀕 (thoga, “a little”) + Middle Indo-Aryan -𑀟- (-ḍa-) + -𑀓- (-ka-), from Sanskrit स्तोक (stoká, “drop, dot”).[1] Cognate with Punjabi ਥੋੜਾ (thoṛā), Gujarati થોડું (thoḍũ), Marathi थोडे (thoḍe).

- वो मुझे थोड़ी चाहिए। ― vo mujhe thoṛī cāhie. ― It is not me who wants that. / It is not the case that I want that.
- मैंने लिखने थोड़ी बोला। ― mainne likhne thoṛī bolā. ― It is not the case that I told (someone) to write.
- उसने ख़रीदा थोड़ी, बेचा। ― usne xarīdā thoṛī, becā. ― It is not the case that she bought it, but instead she sold it.
Usage notes[edit]
Only the feminine form थोड़ी (thoṛī) can be used as the emphasised negation.
