    Inherited from Prakrit सूर (sūra), from Sanskrit शूर (śūra). Doublet of शूर (śūr), a tatsama. Related to सूजना (sūjnā, to swell). Distant cognate with Old Irish caur (hero, warrior) and Ancient Greek κῦρος (kûros, supreme power).
