Etymology

Compound of กลาง (glaang, “mid”) +‎ วัน (wan, “day”), literally “midday”. Compare Lao ກາງວັນ (kāng wan) and ກາງເວັນ (kāng wen), Shan ၵၢင်ဝၼ်း (kǎang wán).
