Thai[edit]

Etymology[edit]

From Sanskrit घोषणा (ghoṣaṇā, proclaiming aloud; proclaiming publicly); probably via Angkorian Old Khmer ghoṣaṇā (public announcement, public notice, proclamation, pronouncement, promulgation; to advertise, to proclaim, to cry one's wares, to hawk, to peddle). Cognate with Modern Khmer ឃោសនា (khoosaʼnaa).
