From Proto-Karen *thɔʔᴰ (“pig”), from Proto-Sino-Tibetan *pʷak (“pig”). Cognate with Western Pwo ထိၭ, Pa'o Karen [Term?], S'gaw Karen ထိး (hṭoḧ), Western Kayah ꤓꤛꤢ (htya).
