Etymology

Causative of ပျော် (pyau, to melt, dissolve). STEDT gives no etymology (phjɔ²² "dissolve (cause to)"), while Luce gives Old Chinese (OC *bos, “to be added to”) and Tibetan སྦྱོར (sbyor, to link, join, mingle) as cognates.[1]
