  1. From Jurchen [script needed] (xoni), from Proto-Tungusic. Cognate with Nanai хонин (honin).
  2. Compare also Proto-Mongolic *konïn, compare Mongolian хонь (xonʹ).
  3. The latter is from Proto-Turkic *kōń, compare Turkish koyun.
