Ancient Greek[edit]

Etymology[edit]

Traditionally said to be ἀ- (a-) +‎ τρυγάω (trugáō, to harvest) +‎ -τος (-tos), but Beekes calls this unlikely (it would produce Ionic ἀτρύγητος) and instead prefers the suggestion by Vine of un-dry-able.

Pronunciation[edit]

Adjective[edit]

ἀτρύγετος (atrúgetosm or f (neuter ἀτρύγετον); second declension

  1. (chiefly Epic) traditionally said to mean barren, unharvestable (epithet of the sea and the sky)

Declension[edit]
