Learned borrowing from Central Atlas Tamazight tanumi (“habit”), from Central Atlas Tamazight num (“to be accustomed, to get used to, to be accustomed”), from Proto-Berber *n-m. It is most likely unrelated to Ancient Greek νόμος (nómos, “usage, custom”).
