      Chichi wa iwayuru ran'i de aru. Orandago o oshiete yarō to iwareru no de, hayaku kara sukoshi zutsu naratta. Bunten to iu mono o yomu. Sore ni zenkōhen ga atte, zenpen wa go o setsumei shi, kōhen wa bun o setsumei shite aru.
      My father is a so-called Dutch-medicine doctor. He said he would teach me Dutch, so I learned bit by bit from an early age. I read something called a grammar. It had two parts. The first part explained words, and the second part explained sentences.
