Etymology[edit]

Shortened from 耽牟羅 (MC tom|tomX mjuw la, “Tanmura”); whose last two moras are ultimately borrowed from Proto-Japonic *mora (village, settlement), via a Japonic substratum. Compare Japanese (mura, village, settlement) and Middle Korean (mwul, group, crowd).
