Etymology[edit]
From 暗黒舞踏 (あんこくぶとう, ankoku butō, “dark dance”) = 暗黒 (あんこく, ankoku, “dark, darkness”) + 舞踏 (ぶとう, butō, “dance”), from 暗黒舞踊 (あんこくぶよう, ankoku buyō, “darkness dance”), by replacing 舞踊 (ぶよう, buyō, “(classical Japanese) dance”) with the archaic 舞踏 (ぶとう, butō, “dance”).[1]
