    First attested in the Samgang haengsildo (三綱行實圖 / 삼강행실도), 1511, as Middle Korean 싀집 (Yale: suycip). Equivalent to (sae, new) +‎ (jip, home, house). First element reinterpreted as Sino-Korean: 시(媤)- (si-, on the husband's side).
