From Proto-Anatolian *néǵnos, further etymology unknown. Cognate with Luwian 𒈾𒀭𒉌𒅀𒀭 (na-a-ni-ya-an, of a brother), Lycian 𐊏𐊚𐊏𐊆 (nẽni, brother).
