[edit]From Proto-Malayo-Polynesian *-in-, from Proto-Austronesian *-in- (“verb perfective infix for object focus”). Cognate with Tagalog -in- and Indonesian di-.

- Used to form passive voice or "patient focus" (in some analyses) on a verb.

Usage notes
[edit]- When preceding a vowel, the prefix n- is used instead.
- In verbs starting in l and r, the prefix ne- is used instead.
