Etymology[edit]

Literally, summer following summer, from a- ‎(indefinite 3rd-person pronoun) + bikééʼ ‎(following it) + ha- ‎(prefix indicating entire, complete, from one end to the other) + -shį́į́h ‎(stem meaning to become summer) (compare shį́ ‎(summer)); and hahoodzo ‎(an area is marked out with a line around it).
