Etymology[edit]

Factitive derived from an adjective *tawaz, from Pre-Germanic *dowh₂os, from Proto-Indo-European *dewh₂-. Indirectly attested as *gatawaz, borrowed into Proto-Slavic *gotovъ.

Cognate with Tocharian B tsuwa and Ancient Greek δύναμαι ‎(dúnamai).[1]
